In Europe we seem to have preconceptions towards people with different
cultural backgrounds. I don’t mean necessarily negative ones. In
Toronto cultures mix, blur, mingle and redefine boundaries that I am
used to. This creates not only a feeling of community but also a high
sense of individuality. With respect to religion it allows that
besides the big churches also small ones like the Chinese Gospel
Church not only survive but also respect eachother. Minorities are
welcomes and nurtured. Yesterday we went to a vegan Chinese
place. The first time in 15 years I ate goose, beef, duck and the
incredible lemon chicken. The lines begin to blur, ey? And the
wonderful thing is that all conservative doubters need to shut up.
Half of Toronto’s populations was born outside the country and yes, it
is one of the safest cities in Northern America.
